Current Standings
Current Standings (Updated 4/18/2008) Here are the UNREVISED standings. There are likely to be some errors and changes as it becomes public. Let's work together to get it correct. Remember that the trials listed must be open and pay a purse. The derby stakes, in addition, must accompany an open, all-breed, multiple course grouse/woodcock stake. The standings are listed in the following tables and beneath those the dogs are listed in no particular order along with the trials and number of points. The points come from entries, not starters. Again, this is not the final list as there are likely corrections to be made. Thank you all for your co-operation
Purina Coverdog Award in Honor of William Harnden Foster Rules for the Purina Award in honor of William Harnden Foster
1) Any eligible dog of any breed is eligible
for this award.
2) All open cover (grouse and woodcock)
championships and one classic from each Grand National Region (Kilkenny
Classic, Fruchey Classic & Armstrong-Smith Classic) are eligible
for points.
3). Trial clubs are not to restrict eligible
dogs or handlers in any way from entering or competing. Breed restricted
cover championships are therefore not eligible for points.
A. A significant purse must be awarded.
4). Points are awarded as follows:
Champion: 12 X # of entries.
Runner up: 8 X # of entries
Classic winner 8 X # of entries
Classic runner-up 4 X # of entries
Classic 3rd place 2 X # of entries
Should a championship be reverted, points
will awarded as a classic.
5) Clubs are not required to advertise this
award in the American Field as a condition of receiving points for the
winners. Clubs are also warned that advertising the trial as a 'points
trial' does not make it so if, due to some rare circumstance, a rule
violation (American Field or Seminatore Award) might render a placement
or a trial ineligible for points. If a club does advertise, it is
therefore suggested that it uses "Michael A. Seminatore points
eligible."
